Micky van de Ven scored on two occasions as Tottenham extended their unbeaten run in away games in the Premier League and handed Everton their initial loss at their new home.

Everton were unbeaten in their last five matches at their recently opened stadium at the dockside location, having left their historic home behind after 133 years at the conclusion of last season.

But Tottenham's leader the Dutchman struck on two occasions from corners in the opening 45 minutes to place their impressive record at jeopardy, and they were failed to mount a comeback before Pape Matar Sarr - assisted by ex-Everton forward the Brazilian - headed home a third to put the game to bed.

Jake O'Brien thought he had equalized the tally a short while after Van de Ven's first goal, directing a powerful header past the Spurs keeper from an Everton corner.

The Portuguese striker, meanwhile, failed to convert a handful of opportunities, while the Italian goalkeeper made a succession of fine saves to guarantee the London club went five matches on the road without defeat in the English top flight.

The win elevates the manager's side into third place in the Premier League, a handful of points off local foes and leaders Arsenal.

Everton stay in 14th position and sit half a dozen points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham analysis: Van de Ven excels in role at each end of the field

After a drab midweek performance in the European competition against the French side, where they managed a mere two shots on goal, Frank chose Randal Kolo Muani up front instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The new arrival was failed to influence the game before being substituted for Richarlison after an hour on the pitch, but it emerged he wasn't needed in the final outcome.

Defender the Dutchman transformed into an offensive threat to be feared.

Everton's new home had been a fortress, but it appears the novelty may have worn off slightly and fans headed to the gates after Sarr's third for Tottenham.

The break in Everton's winning streak at home won't be a major worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation will be.

The forward and the other striker - the Everton's pair of recognised strikers - had netted just one league goal combined before Sunday's match.

And they were unable to contribute to that poor record on a damp and dreary night on in Liverpool.
